I just had this flash of thought. Its mind bending, and answer allot of questions. Its the answer to the
Question: "Why Can't Valve Count To ?"
Answer: "Because its too advance without the Source 3 Engine".
It makes sense.
A. Because if their ideas for Half Life 3, Team Fortress 3, and Left 4 Dead 3 cannot work with the current Source 2 Engine. I know this sounds small, and maybe dumb, but their games are constant with being 'creative' and 'thinking outside of the box'. Such as the story telling that made Half Life famous, and how the graphic of Half Life 2 was considered the 'Best graphics' at the time.
Same Deal with Portal 1 and 2. Portal 1 first came out in the Valve's "The Orange Box". Its was part of a bundle pack containing both Half Life 2 and TF2. It was a simple experiment...
- [at least I suspect that because it didn't come out with itself, and the main programmers where out from college. While compared to game play time was shorted than Half Life 2 and TF2. This belief furthered by the Portal 2 Game being both doubles game play time, more puzzle and background story to Aperture Science. Combined with the fact that when trying to defeat GLaDOs, the betrayal from Wheatley was huge at the time. As if Valve was playing on your expectation of the game play time.]-
...with the main programmers who were hired out of college after making their own dungeons and dragons version which contained the same portal mechanic.
B. One of the main reason being could be because they wish to implement a VR system into the game. Again, one of the Tech they just made. Which proves to be better than the others on the market because of the elimination of vertigo.
C/Last Reason: I did a simple google search under "Source 3 Engine".
I found this in the Steam Store Forum. I also wish to point out that its contains a link where Gabe Newell himself has confirm this. And that the person who posted the Link has been Banned. I don't know if his account was banned due to either posting this link, or for some other Steam Forum related rule breaking.
