Right, but that also connects Us with the layers (it's a two way device). That's why we can keep all items from all layers (I think...I only half know what I'm talking about)

When an item is not picked up yet, it remains in one layer. Once you pick it up, it can switch layers with you. Magic.

the brass scale appears only in layer 5 (iirc), for all the other items, if you change layer before picking it up it's still there.
