Long time I'm surprised why we didn't find anything in Root. Not a single document.
First man-made Submachine. Turning point in history. We are here but we found nothing.
Player made only single note about "observation room (1950's)" (HEY! Where did he find out this information???)
I wonder was Mateusz afraid to tell us more about subverse after mind-blowing Sub4?
It seems Mati himself led the group of people who "cleaned up" the Root, destroying any document. Any clue. Any information about Submachine and researches they made there.

I have mentioned this before on another topic. Sub5 is the only game in Submachine that doesn't make any sense. We go to the first man made submachine and we learn nothing about it, or the origins, mechanics behind Submachine. I get it that Mateusz didn't want to be too revealing, but still...

I have a theory.
Maybe the people who came through here already taken all of the notes?
I mean... Murtaugh did sent several other people to the Edge to shut down the Defense System before we did, so it only logical that the notes aren't there anymore. Even so, I am still disappointed about not learning anything more about the Root, but perhaps that's for the best because even learning one thing about it could be too revealing about the nature of Submachine themselves.
Best to leave it as a mystery.

I actualy think to plot elements of this Submachine are put aside more inderecticaly than in others, mainly due the lack of documents about plot, as the ones sent by Mur only tells us about our objectives.
Other thing I was thinking, the observation room, player thinks it has been installed in 50's, but its posible that 4th Dynasty's was just very advanced for its period, and they could access this kind of technology back in 1906, once again, this point works as link to Covert Front Universe.
Also, Mateusz said the resamblance between the air pressure puzzles in Sub1 and Sub5 was purely intentional, what if it has a real meaning to the structure of the Submachines? As far we know, Basement locations are all generated, so what if they mimic the puzzles and structures of that of the Root?
