The ORANGE BOX itself seems to be made of cheap cardboard materials. The color itself seems kinda bland, though it would be enticing to other intelligent animal beings. Them and their primal fascination with the colors. The content inside feels kinda light, but not too feather light. It not heavy either. He can tell that there's something rod-shaped item inside the way it shifts and tumbles inside the ORANGE BOX.
Maddox ruled out explosives because he know the feels and weights of SPAK Devices and the other series from his learning at the Academy.
