New times, new avatar. Why not.

This is Shin, a character from the relatively obscure manga "Dorohedoro". Which I began reading thanks to this dude's stylish-as-hell mask, by the way! I mean, just look at it. (It's not a real human heart, though).

It's a really great story. Filled with mystery, action, bizarre nonsense (the creativity of some concepts is beyond anything I've seen before), black humour, and explicit, graphically detailed depictions of food (seriously). The author, Hayashida Q, describes it as "a song with really dark lyrics, but a melody that's so happy that you want to dance to it". I completely agree with her.

I'm intrigued! I should read it. Shin means "death", right? Cool name, too.

Not in that form, actually (since verbs don't seem to always have an infinitive, in japanese). "Shinu" would be the nearest equivalent, which represents the concept of "dying" instead (it's a very subtle difference), and "shine" is "to die" (cue anime characters screaming that to their enemies).

Shin himself is very deadly, though. He's a very normal person when "out of job", but...
