Oddly it's got the structure of a church. I also slotted 002 into it aswell.

Really? interesting.

I always thought that the terra cotta roofing might make it close to the Temple, which seems to be the cultural hub in the series..

The Root Observation Center Theory - Revision 1

(I renamed it)

First of all we have the Root. It is a teleportation system designed around the use of cipher plates and has a supposed 343 locations as of the current evidence found.
The equipment mainly consists of communication devices.

What I propose is that murtaugh has used this system to oversee the events from Submachine 0 to Submachine 4, of which these were a test.

This is all the evidence compiled:
*Some of the Root locations connect to places like The Ancient Temple and The Lighthouse, meaning he could have used this system to set up his test.
*His Communication room (where he types to you during Submachine 4) has a root transporter.
*The Root contains bank of screens which are newer than the rest of the area.
*Murtaugh is called "The overseer" on his tomb.
*Murtaugh had prior knowledge of the Root

Nice thought but...
After the second enlightenment Murtaugh dedicated his life to restoring the chaos. While the main layers flourished under his word, the third dimension remained broken.
The Overseer of the restoration of the chaos he created and also The Overseer of the flourishing layers. I mean even in this note:
- How is it possible, that people are still coming through the loop and trying to turn off the defense systems? After all these years...

- What would you have me do. Destroy his creation? Destroy the whole section?
Its implied that when Murtaugh was restoring things, people made a cult around that, and everything that was restored, was his creation.

Just my two cents.

That would be true, but I have always thought we accelerated forward in time during Submachine 8 so if all of that happened it would have been after we had been through the Root, Edge and Core.

Do you think you'll add the locations of all the items in that map or would that be too much

The map would be blitzed with dots if I did that and overall wouldn't look very good. :( Pixel Limitations

I had trouble with the forbidden section as there wasn't really anything connecting the areas.
