I don't know, maybe there's something to that, but I always assumed the name referred to 永遠 (eien), eternity.

hmm, mighty Google tells that in Japanese it's "eternity", in German - "residence".

That said, I am under the impression there are common words that do not get into the Duden because they're "spoken language". Still, I have no doubt eien is referring to Japanese.

When I read 'Eien' I see this:

Granted I only hear the first syllable in Einstein, but the second E in both cases are missing.
